One of the destinations on my “Bucket List” is South Africa! From amazing game drives in Kruger National Park, to tented luxury lodging, wine tasting in the Winelands of Cape Town, and penguins roaming the beach, it’s no surprise why South Africa is popular. So, I’m super excited that I found a company who can create what I was looking for in a South Africa adventure- within my budget. Jewel of Africa Safari’s is a company based out of South Africa with a five star custom rating, and specializes in 3-14 day affordable luxury packages. Also, they plan unique packages that include game drives, day tours, meals, drinks, lodging, gratuities, and park and activity fees. I’m considering a 5 day Private Lodge Kruger Safari, and hope to add a 3 day enhancement in Cape Town either on my own, or with the company.

When first planning a trip to South Africa, the best advice I can give is to research what you want to see and do, and factor in the time you want to spend. Remember to consider flight time. Here are some of the highlights I’m excited to see while visiting:

1.) The Big Five

There are so many countries to choose from when planning a Safari in Africa. For trip, I’d like to do it right, and enjoy game drives that include The Big Five. Kruger National Park, is a massive and one the largest reserves in the world, with a variety of wildlife. There are options to self-drive through the park (the most affordable) or you can hire a driver to take you into the park. Most packages have a hired driver. Furthermore,  any lodging options are within the park. There’s also many lodges where you can stay overnight. Staying in a different game reserve overnight is an option as well, and booking day trips into Kruger.

2.) Penguins!

So this is just  amazing to me. There are few countries where you can go to the beach and see penguins in their natural habitat, but in South Africa it’s possible!  The hot spot is on Boulders Beach in Cape Town.

3.) Cape Town from Table Mountain

Capet Town is a special city, with a picture-postcard backdrop of the sea and Table Mountain National Park. The beautiful coast line stretches near and far, with lengthy beaches, and jaw dropping scenery. The Victoria and Alfred waterfront is home to dreamy yachts, tasty restaurants, and convenient shops.

4.) Winelands

The South African Winelands are renowned for wine! The vineyards are easily located just outside of Cape Town. There are many tours that you can book from biking day trips, to hop-on-off bus tours and private tastings by luxury vehicle.

5.) Giving Back: Timbavati Foundation and Bush School

My heart is filled when I participate in volunteer work. This is on the bucket list because of volunteering is my passion. The foundation is conveniently located at The Phelwana Game LodgeThe Timbavati Foundation and Busch School headquarters focus is on uplifting communities through conservation, healthcare, and education. Finally, the clinic provides healthcare free of charge, and the school strives hard to educate local learners in the area.
